Oil Sticks are made from oil paint, with some oil replaced by neutral mineral wax, giving them a solid, stick-like form. They use pure pigments ground into vegetable oils selected for their minimal yellowing over time, with a high pigment concentration that ensures excellent light resistance. These colours can be applied to traditional oil painting surfaces like canvas, canvas boards, laminated panels, and paper, as long as the surface is properly prepared.

To use, apply the solid oil paint in thin layers (no more than 1mm). Layers can be overlapped like regular oil paint and thinned with petroleum or turpentine if needed. Before use, remove the surface film that forms after a few days of non-use. The paint dries within 2 to 5 days, depending on thickness and conditions. A clear medium is available for transparency and glazing effects.

These colours come in both opaque and transparent shades, depending on the pigments used. They can be stored for long periods without special care, except to keep them away from heat. Once dry, the paint can be varnished like traditional oil paint after at least 6 months of drying, using a finishing varnish.
